The Extreme Sport of Origami:

Unaided by software, [Satoshi Kamiya] recently produced what is considered the pinnacle of the field, an eight-inch-tall Eastern dragon with eyes, teeth, a curly tongue, sinuous whiskers, a barbed tail, and a thousand overlapping scales. The folding alone took 40 hours, spread out over several months.
Origamists also toy with color... In one famous example, origamist Neal Elias created a dancing couple from a single sheet of paper, folded so that the man was dressed entirely in black, the woman entirely in white.

The pictures alone are worth checking out.
